Alexander & Baldwin Completes $29.7M Deal for Key Pearl City Distribution Center

Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (A&B), a real estate company based in Hawai'i, has announced the completion of a $29.7 million acquisition of an industrial property in Pearl City, O'ahu. The 81,500-square-foot facility, currently leased to Hansen Distribution Group, a subsidiary of C&S Wholesale Grocers, serves as a food distribution hub. Its strategic location offers convenient access to key transportation points, including the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and Honolulu Harbor.

This purchase aligns with Alexander & Baldwin's focus on expanding its commercial real estate holdings in Hawai'i, particularly in retail, industrial, and ground lease properties. The acquisition strengthens the company's position in O'ahu’s competitive industrial market. According to A&B, the fully-leased facility is expected to provide immediate returns and enhance its portfolio’s overall value.

The Kids Online Safety Act: Striking Back Against Social Media's Grip on Teens

Young people are spending excessive time on social media, leading to concerns about mental health and safety. The Kids Online Safety Act, which recently passed the Senate, aims to protect minors by requiring platforms to limit harmful content and give children more control over their data. While there are concerns about overregulation, the rise of social media's impact on teens demands government intervention. Tech companies like Meta are already introducing new safety measures, but parental involvement and legislative action are both essential to protect young users.

Flash Adoption Special: Hawaiian Humane Society Calls for Pet Lovers to Act

The Hawaiian Humane Society is continuing a flash adoption special due to overcrowding. Despite the success of "Clear the Shelters Month," where 800 pets were adopted, the shelter has seen 1,199 new animals, leading to capacity challenges. Adoption fees are waived at select locations across Oahu until the end of September, and the community is encouraged to adopt to ease the strain on the shelter.
