Two-Time State Champion Samantha Kanehailua Leads Pearl City to Bowling Glory
Pearl City's bowling star, Samantha Kanehailua, has led her team to a state championship victory, showcasing her skill and determination. Coming from a family of bowlers, she blends intuition and technique to dominate the lanes. With a 3.7 GPA and plans to attend college in Nebraska, she continues to thrive both academically and athletically, while her tight-knit family prepares for her next chapter.
Free COVID-19 Test Kits Return: New Orders Open in Late September
A federal program offering free at-home COVID-19 test kits will reopen in late September. Households will be able to order four test kits through covidtests.org, with USPS handling deliveries. The tests will detect current strains of the virus, but it’s unclear how long this offer will last. Uninsured individuals can still get free testing through the ICATT program, while insured individuals may have coverage depending on their health plan.
Pearl City Named No. 1 for Retirement Quality of Life, Although Cost of Living Are High
Pearl City and Honolulu rank as the top U.S. cities for retirees in terms of quality of life, thanks to their favorable weather and outdoor activities. However, high living costs and risks of natural disasters make Hawaii a challenging option for some. Retirees are encouraged to explore potential destinations thoroughly before committing.
