Pearl City Residents Called to Action for “Stop the Ant Month” to Fight Invasive Species

Pearl City residents are encouraged to participate in "Stop the Ant Month" by collecting and submitting ants from their properties to help detect invasive species like the little fire ant (LFA). These pests can cause painful stings, lead to pet injuries, and form supercolonies. The campaign aims to protect the state’s environment and economy by stopping the spread of these dangerous ants.

20% Spike in Dog Bites Sparks Public Safety Concerns

Pearl City, HI - Oahu has seen a significant increase in dog bite cases, with emergency calls up nearly 20%. Loose and aggressive dogs are being reported on bike paths and in parks. The Hawaiian Humane Society highlights weak laws as part of the problem. A new law, Act 224, will give authorities more power to address the issue, though some provisions won't take effect until next year.
