Pearl City Lions Club Continues Tradition of Community Service

The Pearl City Lions Club, a cornerstone of community service on Oahu since 1965, continues to exemplify its motto, "We Serve," through an array of impactful projects aimed at improving the lives of local residents. As part of Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service club organization, the Pearl City chapter is committed to addressing pressing needs in the community, from environmental cleanups to supporting youth programs.

Over the years, the Pearl City Lions Club has built a strong reputation for its hands-on involvement in the community. Most recently, the club partnered with local businesses and other Lions chapters to tackle a series of beautification projects, including graffiti removal and school ground renovations. One notable example is the cleanup of Pearl City Industrial Park, where volunteers collaborated with local organizations like Aloha Shoyu and the Hawaii National Guard to paint over graffiti and clear debris.

The club's contributions extend beyond beautification efforts. Health-related initiatives such as the Sight and Hearing Program offer critical services to those in need, aligning with Lions Clubs International’s global mission to combat vision and hearing loss. Additionally, the club works closely with local schools, organizing scholarships for deserving students and supporting various youth activities through its LEO Club programs.

The Pearl City Lions also focus on sustainability and environmental protection. A recent example is their participation in the storm drain marking project, aimed at educating residents about the importance of preventing pollutants from entering the ocean. This project is part of the broader goal to enhance environmental awareness across the island.

Meetings are held bi-monthly, where members plan future projects and discuss ways to further serve the community. The club welcomes new members who share a passion for service, offering opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and meaningful engagement.

As the club approaches nearly 60 years of service, the Pearl City Lions continue to inspire and uplift their community, reinforcing their enduring commitment to making Oahu a better place for all.
