Pearl City Community Volunteers Invited to Pearl Harbor Bike Path Cleanup
The City is gearing up for its biannual Pearl Harbor Bike Path Cleanup, scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024. This event offers a fantastic opportunity for community members to come together and help preserve the natural beauty of our local environment.
The cleanup will take place from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM, with volunteers meeting at the Aiea Bay State Recreation Area. Multiple sites along the Pearl Harbor Bike Path will be included in the cleanup effort, including popular spots such as Neal Blaisdell Park, Aiea Kai Way, Best Buy, and Lehua Ave. Participants are encouraged to bring friends, family, and their enthusiasm to contribute to this meaningful cause.
Not only will volunteers be helping the environment, but they'll also be taking part in maintaining a clean and safe recreational space for the entire community to enjoy. Join the effort and make a difference in keeping our local area beautiful!
If interested in joining the cleanup, you must RSVP no later than Thursday, October 17th. The City & County of Honolulu will provide supplies (trash bags, gloves, etc.)
Hawaii Schools Tighten Cell Phone Rules Amid Concerns Over Mental Health and Classroom Distractions
Hawaii schools are implementing policies to reduce cell phone use in classrooms to address concerns about distractions and the impact of social media on students' mental health. While some schools have found success with stricter rules, educators emphasize the importance of teaching students how to responsibly use technology, both on and off campus. Individual schools have crafted their own approaches, ranging from complete in-class bans to allowing phones during lunch and recess, but there is consensus that policies alone are not enough without comprehensive education on technology's effects.
