Vendors at Aloha Stadium Frustrated as Thefts Continue to Plague Swap Meet

Two young men stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a booth at Aloha Stadium's Swap Meet just before 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 19. The thieves, believed to be between 16 and 19 years old, smashed the glass display case using a hammer and quickly fled. Security footage showed one suspect wearing a yellow sweatshirt and another with a large hat. The owners immediately chased them, recovering the hammer but not the stolen jewelry.

The booth's owners, who installed security cameras after a previous attack four years ago, expressed frustration and concern about the ongoing thefts that affect many vendors. They shared that they've worked hard to sustain their business for over 30 years, and the impact of such crimes could devastate their income.

Other vendors have reported similar thefts, noting that groups of teens, often wearing masks and gloves, target them frequently. Some said they've been robbed nearly every month, with the thieves fleeing over fences toward the freeway.

The owner's daughter shared earlier surveillance footage from September 28, which captured one of the suspects scoping out the booth. After the recent theft, local residents showed their support by visiting the booth and purchasing items. Aloha Stadium issued a statement acknowledging the incident and expressing concern for the vendors, while pledging to enhance security at the swap meet in cooperation with local authorities.
