Leeward Community College’s Ho‘ikeakea Gallery is making waves this surf season with an art exhibition that pays tribute to legendary figures in surfing culture. Titled “The Swell is Coming: Ke Ho‘ea Nei Ka Nalu,” the showcase brings together an impressive lineup of surfer-artists, including Tom “Pohaku” Stone, Wayne Levin, Peter Shepard Cole, Elyse Butler, and Mark Cunningham. Adding an international flair, the exhibit highlights contributions from across the globe, blending surf artistry with cultural richness.
The exhibition kicks off this Saturday with an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m., inviting attendees to immerse themselves in the creativity inspired by the ocean. It runs through February 2, offering plenty of time for art and surf enthusiasts to visit. Those interested can easily access the gallery via TheBus or Skyline.
