Hawaii State Open Championship 2024 Brings Top Jiu-Jitsu Talent to Pearl City

The Hawaii State Open Championship 2024, a highlight of the Hawaii Triple Crown series, is set to unfold on December 7 at Pearl City High School in Pearl City, Hawaii. Organized by HFBJJ, this highly anticipated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event will showcase a full day of competitions featuring kids, teens, and adults competing across various divisions in both Gi and No-Gi formats.

Doors will open at 8:30 AM, with check-in and weigh-ins taking place before matches begin at 10:00 AM. Competitors from all belt levels and weight classes will engage in single-elimination brackets, with special rules for kids' Gi competitions, which will feature a best-of-three format in brackets with only two participants. With a focus on precision, skill, and sportsmanship, the event promises high-energy matchups and a celebration of martial arts excellence.

This year’s championship offers a range of prizes and honors to participants. Over $2,000 in cash will be awarded to Absolute Champions in specific Blue Belt divisions and above, provided their divisions have at least six competitors. In addition, 16 crowns will be distributed in select kids' divisions, recognizing outstanding performances in larger, more competitive brackets. Attendees can also look forward to raffle prizes distributed throughout the day, while the top three academies will earn team trophies. Medals will be awarded to first, second, and third-place finishers in each division, and athletes will have the opportunity to compete for third place in their brackets.

Cash prizes for adult competitors are divided by division and skill level. Male Gi Open champions in the Black/Brown Belt, Purple Belt, and Blue Belt categories will receive $500, $300, and $200, respectively. Female Gi Open champions in these same belt categories will earn matching amounts. The No-Gi Male Open Advanced division offers a $400 cash prize to its champion. All athletes competing for awards must weigh in before their first match, with no changes allowed to registered weight classes on the day of the event.

Spectators are welcome to attend this thrilling showcase of talent and dedication. Tickets are priced at $12 for adults and $6 for children aged 6-10, while kids under five enter for free. The event is expected to draw competitors and fans from across the region, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition among the Jiu-Jitsu community.
