Scam Alert: Suspected Credit Card Skimming Incident Reported at Pearlridge Center
A shopper at Pearlridge Center near Macy's recently shared a concerning experience. They were approached by a young man asking for bus fare, and he appeared to have something hidden in his coat. Shortly after the interaction, the shopper discovered an unauthorized $61 Amazon charge on their account.
It’s suspected that the individual may have used an RFID credit card scanner to steal card information. These devices can capture card details within seconds if they’re in close proximity.
Here are some tips to help protect yourself:
1️⃣ Use an RFID-blocking wallet or card sleeve: These can prevent unauthorized scanning of your cards.
2️⃣ Monitor your bank activity: Set up alerts to catch any unusual transactions quickly.
3️⃣ Stay cautious in public spaces: Maintain distance during interactions and secure your belongings.
This incident has been reported to the shopper’s bank and mall security, but all shoppers are urged to stay vigilant. Anyone with similar experiences is encouraged to report the incident to Pearlridge security.

Disturbed Grave at Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City Sparks Family Outrage
An Oahu family is seeking answers after discovering that their loved one’s burial site at Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City was covered by a large slab of concrete. This cemetery has faced ongoing issues over the years, but the family said they were shocked by the condition of the grave during their recent visit.
Sami Oasay, visits the cemetery every year to decorate her sister’s grave ahead of the holidays. However, during a visit on Saturday, she and her family found remnants of another grave seemingly placed atop their family’s plot.
Oasay’s daughter expressed her dismay over the situation, sharing her mother’s deep sadness and confusion about how such a situation could occur.
A community volunteer who helps maintain the cemetery, suspects the disturbance stems from a recent exhumation nearby. He noted that on October 26, he observed a family and an excavator working on a grave close to Oasay’s sister’s plot. The family was exhuming a relative’s grave during a heavy rainstorm. He recalls reminding workers to ensure that headstones and other materials were properly restored, but believes the job was left incomplete due to muddy conditions.
The cemetery remains under state jurisdiction, and the family is hoping for a swift resolution. Oasay is particularly eager to see the burial site restored by her sister’s upcoming birthday on Christmas Eve.
