Beloved Family Entertainment Center Closes Its Doors Amid Lease Challenges |
After more than 30 years of creating cherished memories, Chuck E. Cheese in Pearl City is set to close its doors on Sunday, August 10.
Since its opening in December 1994, this venue has been a cornerstone for family celebrations and childhood milestones in the community.
Franchise co-owner Jodie Hasche expressed deep gratitude for the years of support, stating, "We grew up working here."
She highlighted the joy of witnessing generations celebrate their special moments at the establishment.
The decision to close stems from lease issues that only guarantee another two years, making further investment impractical.
Hasche noted, "There’s nothing definite that we’ll be able to stay here, so it doesn’t make sense for us to invest."
In response to the closure, an auction is being held for over 170 items, including games, kitchen equipment, and furniture.
Bidding ends on Monday, August 11, with item pickup beginning Wednesday, August 13.
Despite the closure, the franchise's other locations in Honolulu and Kapolei remain open, continuing to serve the community.
For many, like former employee Kaimana Kauwalu, the Pearl City location holds a special place.
Reflecting on his time there, Kauwalu shared, "This was my first job in high school... This is home, you know."
The closure marks the end of an era for Pearl City, but the memories created within its walls will undoubtedly endure. |
