Hawaiian Humane Society Offers Programs to Support Low-Income Families and Manage Feline Populations |
Starting Wednesday, August 20, Pearl City pet owners can access reduced-cost spay and neuter services through the Hawaiian Humane Society.
These initiatives aim to humanely control animal overpopulation and support responsible pet ownership.
Anna Neubauer, president and CEO of the Hawaiian Humane Society, emphasized the organization's dedication to fostering a healthier community for both pets and people.
Neuter Now Program
Qualifying low-income pet owners can obtain $20 certificates redeemable at participating clinics for services that typically cost up to $200.
Eligible residents include those receiving government assistance, such as Medicaid and EBT/Kōkua cardholders, who may purchase up to 10 certificates annually.
Each "Neuter Now" certificate covers a pre-surgery examination, anesthesia, surgery, and stitch removal.
Additional fees, such as vaccination updates, may apply.
Applicants are encouraged to inquire about potential extra costs when scheduling appointments.
Appointments can be scheduled with the following Neuter Now clinics:
Blue Cross Animal Hospital: (808) 593-2532
Cat-Bird Vet Mobile Hospital: (808) 551-7289 (cats only)

After the procedure, cats are returned to the areas where they were trapped.
