Hawaiian Humane Society Waives Adoption Fees to 'Clear the Shelters' |
Final Weekend Push Aims to Find Homes for All Animals |
The Hawaiian Humane Society is waiving all adoption fees for the final weekend of Clear the Shelters Month, aiming to house as many furry friends as possible.
All cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other animals will be adoptable with completely waived fees at the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Mōʻiliʻili and Kosasa Family Campuses.
“We’ve been working all month to connect pets with families, and this final weekend represents our biggest opportunity to truly clear our shelters,” President and CEO of the Hawaiian Humane Society Anna Neubauer said. “Events like this help us shine a light on pets who have been waiting the longest for homes while removing financial obstacles that might prevent loving families from adopting.”
Families who adopt a pet with a waived fee are just as likely to be able to properly care for and love their new furry friend compared to those who adopt with a fee, research shows.
The Hawaiian Humane Society’s mobile adoption van will also bring kittens to the Mōʻiliʻili Campus on Aug. 29 and Aug. 31, and to the Kosasa Campus on Aug. 30.
Papa John’s Hawaiʻi will also join in the action on Aug. 29, giving away free pizza coupons to the first several adopters and fundraising for the shelter at the Mōʻiliʻili Campus.
All adoptable pets receive a full medical examination, vaccinations, dewormer, flea and tick treatment, spaying or neutering, and microchipping.
Additionally, the Hawaiian Humane Society can also provide support post-adoption, such as care and treatment exams for medical advice and minor illness at the shelter clinic.
Those welcoming a new pet into their hale can also receive a free first visit at VCA Animal Hospitals, which includes a physical examination and coverage up to $250 for shelter-related illnesses within two weeks of adoption.
Individuals adopting a dog can also receive live one-on-one virtual training support via the Hawaiian Humane Society’s partnership with GoodPup.
If you’re looking to welcome in a paw-fect companion, arrive early and be prepared for higher than usual crowds. For more information or to view profiles of adoptable pets, visit the Hawaiian Humane Society’s website.
With the Hawaiian Humane Society's adoption event and these local happenings, it's a vibrant time in Pearl City to engage with the community and perhaps find a new furry friend to join your family. |
