Pearl City's hometown holiday tradition is coming back on the first Sunday in December.
The Pearl City Shopping Center Annual Christmas Parade steps off Sunday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. from Momilani Elementary School on Hookiekie Street.
According to the shopping center's press release shared by MyPearlCity, the route heads down Ho‘olaulea Street and finishes at Pearl City Shopping Center, between H Mart and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
The organizers' new parade banner confirms the date, time and route, and points neighbors to myPearlCity.com for more information. |

Groups that want to march or ride have until Nov. 20 to apply.
Entry is free, and applications are available from Barry Villamil at barry@mypearlcity.com.
Lineup begins at 2 p.m. on parade day.
Units can enter as marching groups, marching bands, animal units, vehicle floats or mixed groups, and volunteers 18 and older can sign up to help.
Best-in-class awards go to marching, Christmas spirit and vehicle units, with $100 cash prizes for first place and trophies for first through third.
The release promises Pearl City schools, first responders, floats, scouts, classic cars, local businesses, sports teams, the Royal Hawaiian Band and Santa.
The parade is sponsored by the Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association, with Pearl City High School Project Grad volunteers coordinating.
The fun starts early, with a food and craft fair running the same day from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The release says the fair, hosted by 808 Craft & Gift Fairs, sets up on the shopping center's lower parking level near American Savings Bank and Grand Chinese Restaurant.
According to organizer Lauren Ushijima Mori of 808 Craft and Gift Fairs, who is also with the Pearl City Community Association, the group holds its monthly craft fair at Pearl City Shopping Center as well.
After the parade, the BLEIZN FX Cruz Night car show runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on the makai side of the center.
Last year's parade drew more than 1,200 marchers and 43 decorated vehicles, as reported by MyPearlCity.
If your school, team or club wants to be part of it this year, now is the time to send in that application. |
