3rd Annual Megabon at Leeward Community College Pearl City

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 13, 2025, as the 3rd Annual Megabon festival comes to Leeward Community College in Pearl City.

 

Hosted by JCI Honolulu and Hawaii Todaiji, this event aims to rekindle the spirit of bon dance in Hawaii while showcasing LCC's educational programs and supporting local businesses and performers.

 

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including traditional bon dancing, festival games, and live performances.

 

One of the highlights will be the performance of Osaka Expo 2025's official theme song, "Kono Hoshi No Tsuzuki Wo," offering a fun and upbeat dance experience.

 

In honor of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, Megabon 2025 is dedicated to the Nisei veterans.

 

The event will feature Steve Sue, producer of "The 100TH, Seeds of Aloha," a project celebrating the legacy and sacrifice of the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and 522nd Field Artillery.

 

The festival will also introduce a new Cultural Exchange Opening Ceremony, featuring Hawaiian performances by The Women of Hālau Ka Waikahe Lani and Mālie & Men of Hālau Kahulaliwai, along with Taiko drumming by Ryugen Taiko.

 

The program starts at 4:15 PM, so be sure to arrive early to secure your spot.

 

Collaborating with sister chapters from Osaka, Japan, the Megabon team is bringing authentic games, merchandise, and the true essence of bon dance to Hawaii.
