Aiea Na Alii Shut Out Waianae 30-0 to Earn State Tournament Spot |
A stingy defense and a big night from Cason Brooke send Aiea to the HHSAA Division I tournament |

Aiea High's Na Alii are headed to the state tournament after a statement win on the road.
As reported by ScoringLive, Aiea blanked Waianae 30-0 on Saturday night in Waianae to secure a berth in the Division I state tournament.
The win flipped the script on a Waianae team that had beaten Aiea just one week earlier, and it ended the Seariders' season.
Cason Brooke carried the load, rushing 20 times for 145 yards and a touchdown while also catching four passes for 39 yards and another score.
Quarterback Caizel Jesus-Kapesi completed 13 of 20 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and he ran one in himself.
The bigger story was the Na Alii defense.
Aiea held Waianae to 161 total yards and just one net rushing yard on 17 attempts.
The defense also came away with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jesus-Kapesi broke through on a 1-yard keeper late in the first half.
Ethan Toia then picked off a Waianae pass, and Jeremiah Edrado-Yoshimura recovered a fumble with 13 seconds left to set up one more score before the break.
Jesus-Kapesi found Brooke for a 32-yard touchdown with one second left in the half, giving Aiea a 13-0 lead.
Legend Byrd-Tauala caught a 14-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, and Brooke added a 5-yard run early in the fourth to make it 27-0.
Koltan Lorian closed the scoring with a 21-yard field goal and made all three of his extra points.
Ezra Spencer led Aiea's receivers with six catches for 61 yards, and Richard Guest added the team's second interception.
Edrado-Yoshimura finished with a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
According to the Hawaii High School Athletic Association, the Division I first round is set for Saturday, November 14, with the site still to be announced.
Aiea's opponent and game time had not been posted as of November 2.
The Division I championship is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, at Mililani High School.
Now is a good time for Aiea families and alumni to start planning to cheer on the Na Alii. |
