Discover the art of vermicomposting at the upcoming 'Learn to Worm' workshop, scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City.
Led by renowned vermiculture expert Mindy Jaffe, this hands-on session will guide participants through the process of assembling a personal worm bin, essential for producing nutrient-rich vermicompost to enhance garden beds and container plants.
The workshop fee includes a comprehensive 'Learn to Worm' kit, featuring a pre-drilled 10-gallon container, elevation bricks, ample cellulose bedding, a digital scale, a custom-cut shade cloth bin blanket, and a robust 4-ounce starter colony of worms.
Participants will benefit from in-depth instruction on vermicompost production and maintenance, ensuring a productive worm bin setup. Additionally, the session will cover green waste pods for small-scale composting, offering sustainable solutions for organic waste management.
For ongoing support and community engagement, attendees are encouraged to join the Oahu Worm Ohana, a platform dedicated to vermicomposting enthusiasts.

â Parents or guardians must supervise minors throughout the event.
â Bring sufficient drinking water to stay hydrated.
â Wear appropriate outdoor attire, including sturdy shoes and sun protection.
â Only guide dogs are permitted at the Urban Garden Center; other pets are not allowed.
