Kitty Of The Week - Pua: A Resilient Feline Seeking a Forever Home |
From Feral Beginnings to a Loving Companion |
Pua, a 1.5-year-old female cat, began her life in the wilds of Oahu.
Born to a feral mother, she and her siblings were fortunate to be rescued by KAT Charities in Aiea, HI.
They remained with their mother until they were old enough to thrive independently, after which their mother was returned to her colony.
KAT Charities is dedicated to stabilizing Oahu's community cat population through Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, preventing the euthanasia of healthy animals, and educating the public on coexisting harmoniously with these felines.
Animals come into their care through various channels: some are rescued directly from the streets by volunteers, especially if they appear young, sick, or injured; others are brought in by community members who notice a homeless animal in need.
Additionally, KAT Charities collaborates with a network of animal rescue organizations across Oahu, offering assistance when needed.
Regardless of how an animal arrives, each one undergoes a comprehensive process to ensure their well-being and readiness for adoption.
In a recent initiative, KAT Charities partnered with other local organizations to host a co-pay waived spay and neuter clinic in Waianae, successfully sterilizing over 200 cats.
This effort underscores their commitment to humane population control and community engagement.
Now, Pua is ready to find her forever home.
Her journey from a feral kitten to a loving companion is a testament to the resilience of animals and the dedication of organizations like KAT Charities.
By adopting Pua, you're not only gaining a loyal friend but also supporting the mission to provide safe and loving environments for all cats on Oahu.
